Sherry Hines


Sherry started studying tap, ballet and acrobatics at the age of six. At age 15, she began dancing professionally with various New York dance companies and toured the U.S. and Canada. Upon moving to Marin County, she has choreographed musicals for the Ross Valley Players, Novato Community Players and Redwood Players including Cabaret, 42nd Street, and Crazy For You. Her students have won top prizes in various talent shows and dance competitions such as Dance Masters of California, the Cloverdale Citrus Festival, Sonoma-Marin County Fair and won Best in Show at the Marin County Fair. Her unique choreography has received rave reviews from all who have viewed her work.  She currently teaches private tap lessons as well as group lessons for all skill levels and all ages.

About Sherry's Classes

What is Tap?

Tap is one of the first truly original American art dances.  It is rooted in the fusion of spirited Irish and English jigs and clogging, and rhythmic African improvisations which were combined in the 1840s by free Africans and immigrants.

Class Levels:

BASIC LEVEL:  No previous knowledge of dance needed - beginning classes. Classes are ongoing and may be joined at any time.


LEVEL 1:  Students have completed at least an 8-10 week session at the Basic Level. This level of class works at a more accelerated rate.


LEVEL 1.5:  Students have at least one-year experience at the beginning levels. More complicated combinations are taught and turns are incorporated into dance routines.


LEVEL 2 & 2.5:  Students with knowledge of tap skills. Students begin performing at various community functions, and are ready for competition training.


LEVEL 3:  Advanced students with a strong knowledge of tap and stage skills.


PERFORMANCE TEAM:  Audition only

Group Class Drop in: $25.00 per class

Group Class Monthly Pass:

(fees must be paid in advance on first week of month)


  • One class per week: $90.00 

  • Two classes per week: $180.00 

  • Three classes per week: $190.00 

  • Two students of same family in                    same class: $150.00


Private Lesson (1/2 hour): $45.00

Semi-Private Lesson (1/2 hour): $55.00
